Though still in their teens, sisters Kelli and Kayla Iutzwig, a.k.a. Wild Fire, prove this point at show after show, in song after song. They have already achieved considerable success as independent artists in the music industry since forming their duo in 2016.

More than that, they are conveying their stories through music in ways that inspire audiences their age and beyond. Singly and in harmony, they channel the optimism of youth, sprinkle in the spice of early insight into life’s lessons, super-charge it with jolt of pop rock and the sass of country. 

No wonder Linda Wilson, President of the Texas Country Music Association, describes them as “one of the best up-and-coming young artist duos out there.” And following their live appearance on “Great Day Houston” in March 2019, KHOU-TV proclaimed, “Wild Fire are setting the music world ablaze.” 

This fire was kindled in Houston, where their parents spotted Kelli’s and Kayla’s talent when they were barely old enough to sing along to Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Justin Bieber and other radio favorites. When each girl was 6 years old she began studying with celebrated vocal coach Pamela Moore. Both also learned to play guitar, with Kelli doubling on piano. They took to songwriting quickly and naturally and learned how to transfer their energy and creativity into numerous live theater and dance productions. 

After launching Wild Fire in 2016, they’ve wowed audiences at the Houston Rodeo, NRG Stadium, NRG Arena, Kemah Boardwalk, Firehouse Saloon, Dosey Doe, White Oak Music Hall, Typhoon Texas, the University of Houston Stadium, various festivals and many other venues. They reached the semifinals of the Houston Rodeo’s Rodeo Rockstar competition in 2016 and soared to the finals in 2017.  That same year they made the final round of the Huntsville Superstar singing competition in Huntsville, Texas. Then, in 2018, they took first prize as Female Vocalist of the Year in the Young Adult category at the Josie Music Awards, held at the Celebrity Theater inside Dolly Parton’s Dollywood theme park. 

In 2019, Wild Fire had several of their original songs placed in NBC’s “Very Cavallari” reality TV show.  In 2022, the music video for their song “Like Home” was crowdfunded to the tune of $20,000 and picked up by CMT.  With over one million streams on Spotify, their songs have been placed on multiple Spotify editorial playlists including “Wild Country,” “Fresh Finds,” “Fresh Finds Country,” “Next From Nashville,” “New Music Friday Country”, “Young Nashville” and “New Music Nashville.” 

With over 250,000 followers across socials, and numerous accomplishments to date, Wild Fire will widen their impact on the music industry in 2022.

I found it important for you to have an idea of the person writing this review, I am a music industry expert, digital marketing specialist, cinematographer and a drummer based in Europe. I have worked with several artists across various genre also. That being cleared lets dive into the “When It Wasn’t” Review.

At the moment when “When It Wasn’t” rolled in, the string feel did stimulate curiosity while telling a story which continued till the 49th seconds of the song. I am a fan of guitar feels when it comes to music production and that is a 100% for me.

Listening carefully, it was so clear that the piece was all about an heart break story that pour out the past and present feeling throughout the bridges of the song. even the end “I don’t think of you anymore when a text hits my phone” gave a clue of what the story behind the song was about. Overall illusion of some one falling in love. sometimes you fall in love and then realise that it wasn’t.

Let me take you to the part of the song that I appreciate so much as a drummer. And it’s the the Verse 2, it really gave a absolute dynamic feel into the whole song in total. That escalation instrumental with a heavy fill of the drums is amazing and will definitely move the crowd.

When I was listening I am like you hardly know it’s an emotional song until you listen carefully take a listen yourself. and this same dynamic style runs through the song and that make it special and technically a feat track that should make your playlist.

The Wild Fire Duo has proven to be a versatile team that I would recommend paying a close attention to. This is the recent single of released for the year and I highly urge you to go watch all of their live performance on YouTube. you will love it! Peace out!
